THE GALLERIES
Any time after 2008 you'd be hard-pressed to find me without a camera in my hand. After almost a decade and a half, I've found inspiration in many forms through my travels and experiences across the country. These galleries showcase my journey through photography and the beauty it's allowed me to witness over the years. Whether it be bringing other creative's visions to life, capturing a moment of genuine humanity on the street, or waiting for the perfect moment during a sunset over the Grand Canyon. My niche is remaining true to what brings life to myself and others. We are all multidimensional and creative beings. Explore all of your dimensions.

PAINFULLY POSITIVE
INTERVIEW SERIES
Painfully Positive Episode #1: Trilla Kay
Interviewing/photographing underground artists with the intention of discussing fewer stats and more intent. Often times we wear too many hats. Before an artist ‘makes it’ (whatever that means), there is a grey area in between where they’ve put the time and experience into their craft and developed a mastery - but they’re also the promoter, accountant, editor, photographer, booking agent, make-up artist, stylist, manager, have a second job, etc. With their time and attention being pulled in every direction - managing all this and maintaining the mental clarity or even finding time to exercise their creativity is sometimes impossible. Let’s talk about the balance behind the scenes of seemingly glamorous lifestyles.
Washington, DC
Anyone without protective gear flees at the hiss of pepper spray or the crack of rubber bullets, which MPD were consistently eager to utilize on peaceful protestors. However, there were many photojournalists willing to walk directly into the madness rather than away from it. Many of which were arrested, beaten, or intentionally had their equipment destroyed by MPD in an *effort to destroy evidence of an uncomfortable truth.
A couple days later activists gathered outside the jail to greet their comrades as they were released with hugs, food, water, shoe laces, etc. and sent them on their way in Ubers to recover their confiscated belongings from various police departments. For some reason their personal items were scattered and stored in various inaccessible areas of the city.
After MPD cleared the street, an activist who managed to grab their bike in time, followed the dump truck and found where most of the items were dumped. This photo was taken at the dumpster where activists attempted to recover what they could.
The personal items including phones, laptops, hard drives, backpacks, clothes, etc. that were confiscated were unfortunately never found or recovered.
An activist fires up the grills to provide free food and mutual aid to DC's homeless and street activists.
Taken just a couple days before MPD raided and destroyed activists' donated food, first aid, water and grills on H st. just outside of St. John's Church.

This photo was taken to the immediate left of the 200 year old, San Francisco de Assisi Mission Church. Local community volunteers were re-mudding the Adobe style church at the time - as they do each spring.

Just as I began to get frustrated the sun finally dipped below the rim and every one went silent. No one could ignore the natural beauty and rich history in front of them.

Once I was able to relax and take-in the experience, I felt privileged to be experiencing the Narrows in this way just a mile or so in. There was tiny glistening streams of water running down the canyon walls - underneath were varying colors of vibrant algae. Life was bursting through every inch of rock. The water was ice cold but crystal clear. I could see every smooth rock and perfectly rounded pebble in detail. An incredibly grounding and humbling experience.
